Loan Servicing Specialist

The Loan Servicing Specialist will support the Loan Originators, Underwriters, Servicers and Credit Union Members with the mortgage and consumer loan process. They may be required to communicate with members and third-party vendors. They will perform a variety of clerical and administrative support as needed. The Loan Servicing Specialist will ensure that Credit Union processes are followed and will perform Quality Control reviews of loan files.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
Review new loans for accuracy and completeness
Prepare mortgage release documents
Release titles for paid off collateral loans
Process loan payoff requests
Open and track disability and life insurance claims and post claim payments
Scan and archive loan documents
Update insurance information on the core system
Assist with real estate tax and insurance distributions
Answer member calls from loan call queue and resolve requests and problems promptly and courteously
Track loan processing activities such as loan payoffs, titles and mortgage discharges
Daily filing of notes, titles and other loan documents and retrieving all paid loans as needed
Maintain internal tracking logs for senior management
Ensure that daily work is compliant with credit union policies and procedures
Other duties as assigned
Knowledge & Skills
Two years to five years of similar or related experience
A high school or GED
Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements of the job. Work involves personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization, generally regarding routine matters for purposes of giving or obtaining information which may require some discussion
Proficient computer skills including MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Outlook
Ability to learn and use several vendor-based programs
Strong analytical and member service skills
Able to multi-task and work independently

The employee must be able to view a computer monitor and use an alpha-numeric keyboard. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and color vision.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
